A former top junior tennis player in British Columbia, Shayan began his tennis journey at age 12 at the West Vancouver Tennis Club. His dedication led him to compete at both provincial and national levels. In 2008, he graduated from Cumberland University in Nashville, Tennessee on a full tennis scholarship with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and Marketing.​

From 2001 to 2017, Shayan played a key leadership role at People’s Courts Tennis Club, an indoor tennis facility in Coquitlam, BC, owned and operated by his family. As both Director and High Performance Coach, he was instrumental in helping shape the club’s vision to become one of Canada’s top tennis academies. For over a decade, People’s Courts was recognized by Tennis Canada as a "Tennis Development Centre", with its programs becoming some of the most successful in the country.​

From 2011 to 2017, Shayan was also the co-owner of Global Tennis Academy, one of Western Canada’s leading tennis academies at the time. In this role, he focused on high-performance coaching and served as a hitting partner for many of British Columbia’s top provincial, national, and professional players. He also managed the academy's pro shop and played a key role in organizing and running Rising Stars tournaments for U8, U9, and U10 players. Through Global Tennis Academy, Shayan expanded his impact on player development, competitive training, and grassroots tennis promotion.
