Seward

Matthew Seward is a high-performance tennis and pickleball coach with a lifelong background in competitive sport. He began playing tennis on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast at the age of five and competed at the highest provincial level from ages 5–16.
At 16, Matthew earned his Level 1 & 2 Tennis Coaching Certification through the Grant Connell Tennis Centre in North Vancouver. He went on to coach tennis professionally for over 15 years (2005–2021), working with players of all ages and competitive levels.
In 2021, Matthew transitioned into pickleball, starting at the South Surrey courts. Through disciplined training and competitive play, he quickly rose to a 5.4 rating, earning gold medals in every division from 3.5 through 5.0. His competitive success includes medal finishes in both Canada and the United States.
In 2024, Matthew shifted his focus from high-level competition to coaching pickleball, bringing his elite tennis foundation, competitive experience, and proven teaching skills to developing pickleball athletes.
Beyond sport, Matthew holds a Degree in Child Counselling and a Diploma in Criminology, giving him a strong understanding of communication, motivation, and athlete development—particularly when working with youth and recreational players.
